About
My Story - Cornish born, in a small village on the North coast of Cornwall, UK. Growing up surrounded by nature and the sea. As someone who has always loved art and making art - my journey began at school several years ago where I would spend time drawing & painting rather than completing academic classes, even spending lunch times in the art room gave me a sense of peace.
Growing up and training as a hairdresser, then decided to change careers and commenced my nurse training, which lead to becoming an Operating Theatre Nurse,in Orthopaedics, then came marriage , a family and working & living abroad for the British Government for 17 years.
I returned to Cornwall fully in 2009, then re-established my love of art in my 50s at a local drawing class. I decided to apply for an foundation degree, closely followed by a BA degree in Art & Design graduating in 2021 as a ceramacist. My work consists of hand thrown & hand built vessels made with smooth or rough Vulcan Black Clay or white stoneware clays, with layers of unpredictable lava glazes added, as well as various other surface decoration and glazes. Inspired by nature, the coastline and the breathtaking beauty of the South West. I love Cornwall and hope that is shown in my work.
